September 7

Hey people ^^

Today is September 7th, Independence Day of Brazil, like everybody knows. But I decided tell to you two cool curiosities about this date.

First, is about The Big Ben Tower Clock:

"The September 7, 1859, began operating the famous and gigantic four-faced clock "Big Ben" a tower of the Palace of Westminster, the seat of the British Parliament today.
Since it began operating, has become the symbol of England and the English punctuality. At the same time, has been the representative of the city celebrations throughout the year, including New Year.

The clock, which was installed at the height of the Victorian era, was cast by George Mears in 1858. It measures nearly three feet in diameter and weighs approximately 13 tons and a half.

Now, the Google Search Site:

"The September 7, 1998, students at Stanford University, Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded a small company called Google Inc. in a garage.
Both university had created a researcher links used to help in your search for information. The first employee, Craig Silverstein, was responsible for developing the software.
In the first month of activity, had only 60 million pages indexed, and Google was only used by 10,000 people a day.
In just 10 years, has become one of the most powerful and innovative companies in the world with such ambitious projects like Google Maps or YouTube."

See ya ;]
